MREF adds two research executives to its board of directors

SAINT PAUL, Minn., Sept. 12, 2018 – The Marketing Research Education Foundation (MREF) has announced the addition of two seasoned research executives to its board of directors: Susan Waltman, Ipsos global president, and Tim Urmston, founder and CEO of Seek Company. The addition of Waltman and Urmston brings the total number of board members to seven.

Susan Waltman joined Ipsos in 2008 as SVP, U.S., Ipsos Understanding UnLTD. She was promoted to global president in 2010 and has a current scope covering strategic partnering clients across 85 countries. She has a nearly 30-year career in research, innovation, marketing and general management spanning consumer goods and health care. Previously, she worked for P&G, Bristol-Myers Squibb, ConAgra Foods and Coca-Cola. Waltman has a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Alabama.

“I am thrilled to join the MREF and help advance their mission in educating children worldwide,” says Waltman. “I look forward to working with the other board members to gain recognition for the foundation and help provide resources and funding for children’s education.”

Tim Urmston started Seek Company in 2000 after spending seven years with Procter & Gamble as a product researcher. As founder and CEO of Seek Company, Urmston has made it his mission to help companies immerse themselves into the lives of consumers to gain better insights. Along with research experience, he has over a decade of volunteer experience, starting a church on the West Side of Cincinnati and acting as a coach and teacher for the Taylor High School football program. Urmston has an MBA from Xavier University.

“The MREF is a natural fit for me,” says Urmston. “My passion lies in education and I’m happy to be a part of an organization that advocates for children to receive the best possible education, no matter their economic background.”

MREF 2018 Quirk’s Event Pledge Drive

MREF announces a pledge drive at the 2018 Quirk’s Event to raise $20,000, an event with over 70 workshops, 90 exhibitors, and 1,200 attendees.

MREF to Support the Joseph School Class of 2029

The Marketing Research Education Foundation is proud to announce that it will be sponsoring the incoming class of first graders at The Joseph School in Cabaret, Haiti. The mission of The Joseph School is to educate the future leaders of Haiti. The MREF is proud to support the class of 2029 and help them through their 12 years of education at The Joseph School. The annual donation will help provide teachers, school supplies and uniforms. Contact the MREF to make a donation or to visit the school.

$5,000 Grant Given to Help Educate Children with an Incarcerated Parent(s)

The Marketing Research Education Foundation is thrilled to award Children of Promise with a $5,000 grant!

Children of Promise, NYC (CPNYC) is a nonprofit in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn with a mission to embrace
children of incarcerated parents and empower them to break the cycle of inter-generational involvement in the
criminal justice system. CPNYC’s innovative model transforms the lives of children impacted by parental
incarceration through the following holistic support services: academic support, one-to-one mentoring, mental
health, arts enrichment, family engagement, social justice initiatives and recreational activities. To this day, CPNYC
remains the first and only after-school program and summer day camp in NYC specifically designed to meet the
needs, interests and concerns of this forgotten population.

MREF Raises $15,000 at the Quirk’s Events

The Marketing Research Education Foundation is proud to announce that we raised $15,000 during the 2017 Quirk’s Events held in Orange County and Brooklyn.
